About Programme
|
The main purpose of the Department of Special Education is to produce theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of special education that can be used at both national and international levels. Another aim is to train prospective teachers who are qualified to be employed in and out of our country, especially in official schools and institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In general, to contribute to the development of special education by developing solutions at the local and international level.
The Department of Special Education, established in 2013 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Education, accepted its first undergraduate students in the 2016-2017 academic year.
The Special Education undergraduate program is four years (eight semesters) and the language of instruction is Turkish.

Program of Teacher Education for Special Children has been established as The Department of Special Education in the 2013 academic year, to educate special education teachers.

Admission Requirements
|
Students' acceptance, registration, exam and evaluation procedures are conducted based on the Higher Education Law and the regulations and decisions put forth by The Higher Education Council based on this law.At Hacettepe University, student acceptance and registration procedures are handled by the Student Registrar Office. Related rules and regulations can be reached at http://www.oid.hacettepe.edu.tr/Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) is applied to the transition from secondary education to higher education. These exams are conducted by the Measurement, Evaluation, and Placement Center (OSYM in Turkish). More information about the exams can be obtained from the http://www.osym.gov.tr/ web site. Two different tests are applied to the candidates in the examination system. In the first stage, YKS-Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), in the second stage, YKS-Field Proficiency Test (AYT) is applied. The "Higher Education Institutions Exam" is a test which will be applied to those who successfully complete secondary education and who want to have higher education and to measure the adequacy for transition to higher education.

Graduation Requirements
|
To complete all the courses in the program (240 ECTS) and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 are the required rules to qualify for graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates of the Special Education Teaching Program receive the "Special Education Teacher" title and they can work at state or private schools and rehabilitation centers affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Our graduates also find jobs at private training centers, companies that develop and market educational materials, publishing companies, and universities for an academic career.
