About Programme
The main task of the Department of Biology Education is to train biology teachers who will work in secondary education. The Training Program covers a period of four years. The program includes Vocational Knowledge, General Culture and Field Education courses. In our Department, Master's and Doctorate Programs with Thesis are also carried out.

The Main Branch of Science
History
|
Biology Education program was established in 1982 under the "Department of Science Education" to train biology teachers for secondary education institutions teaching in German, and in the same year, it started 4-year education by admitting students (excluding for the German preparatory class). In 1998, by the decision of the Council of Higher Education, under the "Secondary Education Department of Science and Mathematics Education Department", the education period was increased to five years (excluding the German preparatory class) and students were given a Non-Thesis Master's degree diploma. As of 2014-2015, the education period under the "Department of Mathematics and Science Education" has been 4 years and the language of education has been Turkish (excluding for the optional English preparatory class). The basic mission of the Division of Biology Education is to educate students who are going to be biology teachers at secondary education.

1 - High school diploma,
2 - Getting sufficient scores from the central exam administered by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (Higher Education Institutions Examination - Numerical Score).

Graduates of this program can continue their studies if they meet the entry requirements for a master's degree in the same field or other master's programs in other fields that accept graduates of this program.

Graduation Requirements
For graduation, it is necessary to be successful in all 240 ECTS compulsory and elective courses and to achieve a weighted GPA of at least 2.0 over 4.00.
