About Programme
Hacettepe University Başkent OSB Technical Sciences Vocational School, Department of Machinery and Metal Technology Department - Welding Technology Program; It was established in 2018 by the decision of Hacettepe University Senate on 03.01.2018 and 2018-2. Our program, which is opened as a full-time 1st degree, gives associate’s degree education in 4 semesters for 2 years. Those who have successfully completed their education are awarded "Welding Technology diploma" and "Technician" title.
Associates can make a vertical transition to similar undergraduate programs if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam opened by OSYM. Examples of these undergraduate programs are Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering.

Admission Requirements
It’s determined by the OSYM (National Student Selection and Placement Center) in line with the relevant legislation of the Higher Education Council of Turkey.
Higher Grade Transition
The associate's degree holder can enter the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam) and transfer to the undergraduate programs determined by OSYM within the scope of relevant legislation of the Higher Education Council according to their success status and scores.
Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete the program, students have to pass all the courses in the program (120 ECTS credits) and obtain a GPA of 2.0 out of 4.00 at least. They are to complete internships in the summer semester outside the period and practical training in the workplace within the period as a part of this 120 ECTS.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates work as a technician in iron, steel and aluminum casting factories, machinery, aviation, automotive, construction, ship industry belong to the public or private corporations. Welding technicians, in factories and workshops belong to public and private institutions, carry out studies on the application of the business plan prepared by the engineer. In the planning of the production activity, they help the engineer to decide materials and methods to use for welding. They builds all kinds of welded structures manufactured via welding and supervise the production. They conduct quality control work.
Diploma holders could attend relevant undergraduate programs providing success in the Vertical Transfer Exam opened by OSYM. Examples of these undergraduate programs are Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering.
Assessment and Grading
Students have to enroll courses at the beginning of the semester and continue at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the applications in order to enter the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm and a general exam for each course. Success grade is weighted average of the midterm exams (grades obtained from measurement tools such as homework, laboratory exams, practice etc. can be taken into consideration as a midterm exam grade) and of the final exam. The weight of the midterm and general exams could be between 40% and 60% that are determined by the instructor of the course.
Examinations and grading follow the related arrangements of Hacettepe University Associate’s Degree, Bachelor's of Science Education and Examination Regulations.
