About Programme

A key role of the Recreation program is to contribute to the healthy lifestyle of people by increasing physical activity in the community through recreation services.The purpose of Recreation Program is to provide students who want to be a physical activity expert and recreation leader with an excellent opportunity to study and apply the scientific principles, theories and ideas underpinning physical activity involvement in recreational setting.

History
School of Sport Sciences and Technology was established as a department of the Faculty of Education in 1989, to educate physical education teacher, trainer manager, to provide new approaches and current knowledge and skills to its alumni. In 1992, with the nation's leading departments, Department of Sport Sciences and Technology has evolved into academy. At first, graduates attained knowledge about physical education teaching, right alongside with modular approach they majored in practical and theoretical fields of sport sciences. Since 2000, they have begun taking bachelor's degree from one of the programs named "Sport Sciences", "Physical Education Teaching" and "Recreation". Recreation Program offers a wide range of knowledge, skills and ability which are required in designing, managing and delivering physical activity and recreation services aiming to make a contribution to physical, mental, emotional, psychological and social development and health protection of individual in different socio-cultural environments. The program provides scientific research and vocational experience based education through theoretical and practical courses, academic and vocational research projects and work experiences. In 2013, School of Sport Sciences and Technology is named as Faculty of Sport Sciences. Recreation Program has 4-year Bachelor`s degree and it`s educational language is Turkish.

Admission Requirements
To register Recreation Program, candidates are required to have taken and succeeded in the National Student Selection and Placement Test or other equivalents recognised by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey. Candidates are also required to have taken and succeeded in the Ability Exam of the Faculty of Sport Sciences.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from Recreation Program, students are required to complete at least 142 national credits (240 ECTS) and obtain at least 2.00 general academics core out of 4.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Those graduates of Recreation Program become a physical activity instructor and recreational leader in Fitness and sport centers, Health clubs, outdoor and indoor recreation centers, sport clubs in many state and private intuitions.
Assessment and Grading
The assessment and evaluation methods applied for each course are described in detail in the "Assessment System" tables prepared by the relevant faculty members and included in the Information package. Regarding exams and course grades, the relevant articles of Hacettepe University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations are applied.
