About Programme
|
Hacettepe University Vocational School of Health Services, Disinfection, Sterilization and Antisepsis Program; It was established in 2017 with the decision of the Hacettepe University Senate dated 29.03.2017 and numbered 2017/118. Our program, which is opened as a full-time 1st education, provides associate degree education for 2 years and 4 semesters. Sterilization and Disinfection Program aims to train technicians with sufficient knowledge and experience in sterilization and disinfection. Students who have successfully completed their theoretical and internship training in order to train technicians who will correctly perform the stages of pre-cleaning, decontamination, counting, maintenance, control, packaging, sterilization, storage and delivery of all kinds of medical supplies under appropriate conditions. "Antisepsis" associate degree diploma and "Technician" title. Our graduates can transfer vertically to Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Biology, Occupational Health and Safety and Health Management undergraduate programs in the Vertical Transfer Exam opened by ÖSYM.

History
|
The process of sterilization and disinfection are vital and indispensible procedures of the health system. Healthcare associated infections (HAI) are significant for the health care staff well as the patients. An effective sterilization and disinfection has a role in decreasing the incidence of HAI and preventing the spread of antibiotic resistant microorganisms. In this regard, the staff who work in the Central Sterilization Units which operate 24 hours a day are undertaking a very important task and responsibility. The aim of the sterilization and disinfection programme is to train students equipped with theoretical and technical knowledge. It is believed that this practice will help to complement the lack of staff working in this field.The aim of this programme is to raise students competent theoretically, with practical experience and work discipline. The students who complete the programme are entitled to a Associate Degree diploma and the title of "Sterilization, Disinfection and Antisepsis Health Technician". The graduates of this department do not have the privilage of working individually but are entitled to work in the sterilization units of the private and state hospitals.

Admission Requirements
|
To enter the Sterilization, Disinfection and Antisepsis programme, it is an obligation to have completed the high school education, to be transferred directly from a vocational high school or have an adequate mark from the ÖSYM exam. It is a requirement for the students who apply not to have a physical or mental handicap. In order to be accepted for enrollment, it is a necessity to be eligible according to Hacettepe University Licence Educational Regulations.

Graduation Requirements
|
The students are required to complete 120 ECTS in four half-terms successfully and to have an academic average of at least 2,00 according to the 4 score system.
|
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Students graduating from the program will be able to be employed in central sterilization units of all public institutions and private hospitals, in dentistry sterilization units and private sterilization companies.
