Industrial Product Design Program
Industrial Product Design Program is a two-year associate degree program that aims to satisfy user needs by adding functionality and aesthetics to industrially produced products.
The aim of the Industrial Product Design Program is to train Industrial Product Designers who can design the product to give the visual and functional qualities of the product to be produced in any industry, decide on the material or materials to be used in the product, and visualize the color, texture and graphical properties of the product. Students, who are informed about materials, colors, textures and ergonomics, first draw what they have designed on paper using the drawing techniques they have learned, and then complete their designs using up-to-date computer programs and transform them into prototypes in the workshop.
Designers can construct all kinds of perceptual, physical and functional relationships between the product and the user, make technological innovations, and thus shape the future. In the program, in addition to general methods and theories, innovative and experimental methods are used, sensitive to the changing needs of people, the environment, national and international stakeholders and able to direct these needs, knowing principles such as user-orientedness and sustainability, integrating their knowledge with current technology in professional practice, and adopting design trends in national and international It is planned to train versatile industrial product designers who can lead internationally. Our aim as the Design Department; Our aim is to carry out our education and training activities with an engineering and technology-based education philosophy, with a research and development-oriented approach, in close cooperation with the industry.
In its broadest sense, Industrial Design Education covers shaping the objective world that constitutes the artificial environment of man to benefit from it in line with his needs. However, industrial product design is not only a profession that focuses on the creative and innovative construction of the relationship between form and function in line with human needs and desires, but also an academic discipline that contributes to the production of value and knowledge with creative and innovative approaches in local and global competitive environments. As the Department of Industrial Design, we think that design is a way of thinking that bears responsibility for constructing the future and making it livable by criticizing the present, and in this direction, the philosophy of education of our department is to open up for discussion the roles that design practice has or can play in economic, social and technological developments in the world, and to address social responsibility, environmental and environmental issues. It is aimed to develop design and research strategies to ensure continuity in social sustainability.
Our department trains creative, entrepreneurial, innovative, national and international competitive industrial product designers who can take charge in industry and related sectors, design products by considering user, producer and market expectations, as well as social and environmental values. In the department courses where theory is supported by practice, courses such as ergonomics, materials, production methods, technical and three-dimensional drawing are carried out in interaction with qualified academic staff and professional designers. In this way, skills such as researching the product design process, determining strategic goals, developing original concepts, and mastering new technology and production processes are developed.
ASO 1st Organized Industrial Zone, in which our Vocational School is located and approximately 277 factories operate, is one of the most developed industrial basins of our country. In order to develop qualified workforce and application skills in the program, our students carry out workplace skills training two days a week during the course periods of their programs, and a total of 146 days in the summer periods with businesses suitable for their field of expertise. Students, who can also find the opportunity to work full-time in these businesses, will start their business life at a certain level of experience upon graduation by blending their practical knowledge and experience with their theoretical knowledge.
