About Programme

Office Administration Executive Assistant Programme

The world of work today is in a process of change and development, and thus in a situation where new theories of exploitation are produced and new applications are implemented.

In this context, secretarial work is considered not as a profession with some limited missions, but it is converted to a systematic structure in which professionals in the field perform according to their responsibility in organizations.

The objective of the programme is contribution to the work of board of directors within public or private establishments, assistance and education of office managers who can take responsibility for office operations, experts on the use of computer, able to apply professional principles and practices of office management, successful communication between individuals, able to use all the office technology, with protocol information, decision-making skills in relation to management and analysis, and finally conscious creativity.

Students are also responsible for 60 days of work placement and to apply the new knowledge they had the chance to learn in this course. This can be considered as a transition from theory to practice.

Each year a total of 95 students are admitted.

History
Founded in the 1976-1977 academic year, the School, then called Ankara Vocational School of Higher Education, was under the Ministry of National Education until 1981 when it was joined by Ankara School of Foreign Languages and named Ankara School of Foreign Languages and Vocational Education.In 1982, when higher education was brought under a single roof, Ankara School of Foreign Languages was made part of Gazi University and the Vocational School joined Hacettepe University under the name of Ankara Vocational School.In the 1992-1993 academic year, the evening classes began at Ankara Vocational School of Higher Education, which moved to its current location in Opera in July 1997.In the 2002-2003 academic year, our School joined the MEB (Ministry of National Education) and YÖK (Higher Education Council) Common Education Project for Vocational Schools.In the 2004-2005 academic year, the Department of Economic and Administrative Programmes was separated from the Department of Technical Programmes which moved to its current premises at our university's Polatlı Vocational School of Technical Sciences.Following the decision of our University and the approval of the Higher Education Council of 17 December 2004, Ankara Vocational School of Higher Education was renamed 'Vocational School of Social Sciences'.Since the education year 2011-2012, our school is a part of the Human Resources Development through Vocational Education Project (İKMEP) that is financed by the European Union Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (İPA). This project aims to encourage developing human resources through the perspective of life long learning, organization of vocational education, and increase in quality by enabling unity that focuses employment between the labour market and vocational schools.The Vocational School of Social Sciences continues its daytime and evening courses with its three associate programmes under the Department of Economic and Administrative Programmes, among which is the Office Administration and Executive Assistantship that has started its education in the education year of 1980-1981. This programme has been training office professionals for the last 33 years.

Admission Requirements
With the law no. 4702, since the education year 2002-2003, all Turkish Vocational Schools accept students without any entrance exam if they have graduated from a Vocational High School. Students that enroll to our program are from related vocational high schools and do not enter any entrance exam. Students that hold a YGS-4 field of score can enroll to the program as well.

Graduation Requirements
Students that complete at least 78 credits from the international 120 ECTS credited courses have the right to graduate.

Alumni of the programme are employed in public and private sectors.
