Piano Department: Harp Division at the Institute of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University offers a Proficiency program in arts, aiming at improving and expanding knowledge and educations at higher level, introducing instructors at academic level, orchestra artists and soloists to serve in this field into modern Turkish music life.

History
The Harp Department, which was founded in 1924 with Atatürk`s directives, was one of the first departments of the Music Teachers School. Among the distinguished founding faculty members there were many foreign artists such as R.Moisol, M.Grossi, Schiffner, S.Tobias,G.Parenti.Many renowned Turkish harpist have been raised in this department. In 1982, the conservatory was merged with Hacettepe University. Harp department offers undergraduate, graduate and proficiency of art degrees. The high level graduates provide service either academic or practical fields in music. The education covers whole areas of professional carrier. Besides the solo repertoire, undergraduate students play a concerto each year .Successful students gain opportunity to play with the academic orchestra.

Graduation Requirements
The conditions for graduation stated in the 30. Article of Hacettepe University Associate Degree, Bachelor`s Degree Educational and Examination Regulation are valid.(http://www.resmi-gazete.org/rega/hacettepe-universitesi-on-lisans-lisans-egitim-ogretim-ve-sinav-yonetmeligi-33210.htm). In order to be able to graduate from this program, it is necessary to get minimum130 national credits and 240 AKTS credits in total except the common obligatory courses, as well as fulfilling the graduation conditions stated in the 30.article of Hacettepe University Associate Degree, Bachelor`s Degree Educational and Examination Regulation. Moreover, the graduation examination of the Bachelor`s Degree Program is done as a recital open to public.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates of the Piano Department work as an instructor (lecturer), or a repetiteur at the faculties of music, conservatories and/or similar schools; and as a repetiteur at the State Institutions of Opera, Ballet and Theatre as well as the private institutions related to the same art branches or as a Harpist in an orchestra. The graduates can also be a Piano instructor for the students of all ages.
Assessment and Grading
The measurement and evaluation methods applied to each course are defined in the “Course Plan” which is shown in the Information Package and prepared by the related instructor. The articles 23-28 of the Hacettepe University Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree Educational and Examination Regulation are valid for the exam and course success grades.
