About Programme
History
School of Sport Sciences and Technology was established as a department of the Faculty of Education in 1989, to educate physical education teacher, trainer manager, to provide new approaches and current knowledge and skills to its alumni. In 1992, with the nation's leading departments, Department of Sport Sciences and Technology has evolved into academy. At first, graduates attained knowledge about physical education teaching, right alongside with modular approach they majored in practical and theoretical fields of sport sciences. Since 2000, they have begun taking bachelor's degree from one of the programs named "Sport Sciences", "Physical Education Teaching" and "Recreation". In 2012, it was decided to change the name of the Recreation Program into Physical Activity and Recreation Program.Physical Activity and Recreation Program offers a wide range of knowledge, skills and ability which are required in designing, managing and delivering physical activity and recreation services aiming to make a contribution to physical, mental, emotional, psychological and social development and health protection of individual in different socio-cultural environments.The program provides scientific research and vocational experience based education through theoretical and practical courses, academic and vocational research projects and work experiences.Physical Activity and Recreation Program has 4-year Bachelor`s degree and it`s educational language is Turkish.

Admission Requirements
To register Physical Activity and Recreation Program, candidates are required to have taken and succeeded in the National Student Selection and Placement Test or other equivalents recognised by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey. Candidates are also required to have taken and succeeded in the Ability Exam of the School of Sport Sciences and Technology.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from Physical Activity and Recreation Program, students are required to complete at least 136 national credits (240 ECTS) and obtain at least 2.00 general academic score out of 4.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Those graduates of Physical Activity and Recreation Programme become a physical activity instructor and recreational leader in Fitness and sport centres, Health clubs, outdoor and indoor recreation centres, sport clubs in many state and private instutions.
