About Programme

At the Bachelor's Degree Program of English Translation and Interpreting, students may have a translation education in a second foreign language as well (bilingual education) along with the English translation and interpreting education (monolingual education). The second language that they will choose is limited to the education provided at the other Translation and Interpreting Divisions functioning in our department.

History
The Division of English Translation and Interpreting is the first division of the Department of Translation and Interpreting, which had its first graduates in 1988. The Master's Program started in 1992. The Division of English Translation and Interpreting is an academic institution that sets standards and trends in translation studies and practices in Turkey with its highly qualified student profile and alumni network, faculty members that carry out scientific research all around the world, the knowledge and experience based on more than 30 years of history, and a constantly updated dynamic structure.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the admission to this program, candidates should be high school graduates. The program admits students according to their LANGUAGE score obtained at the undergraduate placement examination.
If students have failed the English Proficiency Exam before starting their education at the program, they will have to receive a preparation education in English in the Preparation School of Hacettepe University.

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate, students are required to have fulfilled the terms of the Hacettepe University Undergraduate Directive for Education and Examination, to have completed the credits of 143/240 ECTS and serve their compulsory internship. The compulsory internship is served in accordance with the Internship Directive of the Department of Translation and Interpreting.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates of the program work both at governmental institutions and in private sector. Along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries, the Constitutional Court, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, the Directorate General of Press and Information, Anadolu Agency, the students are highly likely to be employed in private sector in areas such as translation offices, visual and print media organs, enterprises of tourism and publication, and import-export companies.
Assessment and Grading
The assessment and evaluation methods employed for each course in the program are defined in the “Course Description”. They are prepared by relevant professors and are included in the Bologna package. The exams and course passing grades are implemented according to the Hacettepe University Associate and Bachelor's Degree Education and Examination Directive.
