About Programme
|
Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory was established in 1936. The Opera Department was added in the 40s under the leadership of the Austrian singing instructors M. KLEIN, F. BÖHM, E. HIDALGO, famous Italian Soprano G. A. LOMBARDI and S. İKESUS ALTAN who all together developed the educational programme of the Opera Department under the influence of Italian and German Singing Écoles. The main features of this programme persist until the present time and have been enhanced continuously. The Opera Department aims to educate professional opera singers who are able to work on opera stages and educational institutions. It focuses on voice and acting techniques and knowledge, skills and competency in the field of music. A revision of the programme was made in 2009 by the closure of high school section. The programme was transformed into one preparatory and a four year credit licence programme. On 04.08.2021, due to the closure of vocational preparatory classes in accordance with Articles 7/d-2, 44 and 45 of the Law No. 2547 by the Higher Education Executive Board on 04.08.2021, the Opera Department continues to provide 4-year undergraduate education.

Admission Requirements
|
For foreign students, Hacettepe University`s conditions described for the foreign students are valid. (http://www.iso.hacettepe.edu.tr/). It’s necessary for being maximum 23 years old. As a result of this application an exam commission will be assambled to hold the exams for each course beforehand of registration.

Graduation Requirements
|
Valid graduation requirements are explained in paragraph 30 of Hacettepe University`s, Associate`s Degree, Bachelor's Degree Education and Examination Regulations (http://www.resmigazete.org/rega/hacettepe-universitesi-on-lisans-lisans-egitim-ogretim-ve-sinav-yonetmeligi-33210.htm).Beside these valid regulations students must collect at least 145 National Credits and a total of 240 ECTS for graduation of the Opera Department Bachelor`s Degree Programme.The equivalence of the Opera Department 8th semester Singing Course (OPR 422) is NOT ACCEPTED when the students return from ERASMUS STUDENT EXCHANGE programme, students must take the course and must give a graduation examination in H.U. Ankara State Conservatory Opera Department in form of a recital open to public.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
Graduates may work at opera stages, choirs and educational music institutions, give solo or ensemble concerts and recitals and make auditory and/or auditory-visual media recordings.Examples: State Opera and Ballet Houses, Polyphonic State Choir of the Ministry of Culture, TRT Polyphonic Choir, State Conservatories.

Assessment and Grading
|
According to orders of Hacettepe University's senate from 19-6-2012 no. 2012-184 the ratio of midterm exams to final exams is 40% to 60%. Students who obtain less than 70% (B3) fail the course. (Students who obtain less than 70% in final exams automatically fail the course no matter what percentage was obtained in midterm exams). Compulsory courses of the Department of Art with a commission and a passing grade of 70 (B3); These are Singing, Repetition and Stage lessons in all semesters.
