History
The Department of Industrial Engineering at Hacettepe University was established in 2004 and is performing its activities in its own building, having 4 floors and an effective area of 900 m2. The undergraduate degree program has started during the 2007-2008 Academic Year. The medium of instruction of the undergraduate program is English. The first two years of the undergraduate program are mostly composed of basic science, engineering and social science courses, whereas compulsory and elective courses from Industrial Engineering field are mainly enrolled starting with the second year of the program. Applications of the courses are carried out in Simulation, Quality Engineering and Health Care Systems Engineering Laboratories. After the second and third years of the program, students complete their internships at leading national and international companies. During these internships, students practice applications of their theoretical knowledge acquired in the courses and become more familiar with the industrial engineering field. Students are further equipped for professional life through their experience obtained in their graduation projects, which are realized during the last year within the scope of "System Analysis and Design I-II" courses. Seminars are organized at the Department of Industrial Engineering on a regular basis to discuss the technological and scientific activities. Students have the chance to meet national and international expert speakers in these seminars. Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs at various universities in Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Poland in accordance with the bilateral agreements.

Admission Requirements
The student admissions for the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program are performed through the central examination carried out by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) by the score system determined for Engineering Faculties (MF-4), within the framework of the regulations set by Higher Education Council (YÖK). The international students are admitted to the program according to the Hacettepe University Directive for Application and Registration Admission of International Students. The exchange students coming from universities with bilateral agreements are admitted to the program according to the agreement protocol. The quota of the program is determined by Higher Education Council.

Graduation Requirements
For students in the ECTS credit system, the following minimum credits summarized below according to the undergraduate program that these students must follow and determined according to the academic year that these students start the undergraduate program Students that started the undergraduate program during 2016-2017 academic year and after: 240 ECTS (compulsory courses - 179, in-field electives - 54, out-of-field electives - To have a minimum of 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average according to the 30th Article of the Hacettepe University`s Associate and Bachelor`s Degree Education and Examination Regulations
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The industrial engineering methodology and its applications are not limited to a specific sector or a field of activity. Therefore, industrial engineers can be employed in many small and large scale companies and enterprises of public and private sector in all industries. There is a quite wide occupational profile of the industrial engineers who are employed as decision makers at all levels and practitioners in the design, analysis, planning, monitoring and improvement of every process and system. Among the common employment areas are production planning, quality management, Project / program management, capacity and workforce planning, purchasing, logistics, cost and financial accounting, system analysis, business development, risk management, inventory control, supply chain management, enterprise resource planning, research and development, human resources and information technology.
