Mission and Vision



Mission of the Department



In the light of universal values, by making use of the knowledge of science in general and psychology in particular, training psychologists in need of the country and humanity. To train highly qualified psychologists who have learned how to learn and can support one’s self. To provide its production in the fields of education and research for the use of society and humanity.



 



 



Vision of the Department



Within the next 10 years, in line with the mission, vision, values ??and strategic objectives of our university, we aim to be a university which makes its students proud of being a member of and graduate from, in both national and international environments; to be a leading psychology department that will contribute the progress of contemporary psychology through its education and knowledge as a product of scientific methods and raise the staff who is going to apply contemporary psychology to the benefits of society and humanity. In this context, our objective is to become a model for other psychology departments in the developing universities and also to provide well-trained researcher / teaching staff as a source.

History
Department of Psychology established in 1964. Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Letters offers a four-year mainstream education. Apart from the courses given by the Department of Psychology and the other courses, the language of instruction is Turkish.The main aim of the Department of Psychology is to raise qualified graduated from psychology for our country. For this reason, the students attend practicum courses of their education in order to transform their theoretical knowledge on teaching profession into skills and to develop their knowledge. Our undergraduate program accredited by Turkish Psychological Association (TPA) behalf Turkish Council of Higher Education until 26.01.2026.

Admission Requirements
To enter the Department of Psychology,it is required to finish secondary education or get an equivalent education abroad and receive sufficent score in the national student placement exam.

Graduation Requirements
Students are required to take provided courses in return for 240 ECTS credits (144 national credit) and succeed in them; have a general academic average of 2.00 out of 4.00 to be able to graduate from the program.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of Psychology can work as psychologist at schools, kindergartens, hospitals, nursing homes, lockup houses, house of corrections, as instructors, research assistants at universities; as officials at public and private institutions and organizations and also work as officials in departments of human resources.
Assessment and Grading
Testing and evaluation methods implemented in the courses are defined in the “course instructional plan” which takes place in the information package. The relevant articles in the Examination Regulation of Hacettepe University Associate and Undergraduate Education are used for the exams and final grades.
