History
Hacettepe University School of Pharmacy was initially founded in 1967, and was later reorganized as the Faculty of Pharmacy in accordance with the Hacettepe University Senate`s decision number 71-216 dated 11 February 1971. Education at the Faculty of Pharmacy initially consisted of a five-year program, and included a foreign language preparatory period. After the removal of the language preparatory period from the program in 1981, education at the Faculty of Pharmacy continued as a four-year program until the end of the 2004-2005 academic year . In the 2005-2006 academic year, a transition was made to a 5 year program in parallel with the other Faculties of Pharmacy in our country.Undergraduate program of Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy was accredited by National Accreditation Board for Pharmacy Education (ECZAK) since 2015.The language of education is Turkish. As a requirement for graduation, students must successfully complete their courses and gain a minimum of 300 ECTS credits during their five-year curriculum. In addition to theoretical courses, the education program also includes practical courses. The basic, professional and elective courses specified in the program are provided by the Departments of Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy Management, Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Botany, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Toxicology, Radiopharmacy, and by the Divisions of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Cosmetology and related departments within our University. In addition, the courses concerning specialization in the pharmacy profession (Pharmacy Management, Pharmacy Services, Industrial Drug Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Regulations) and the Pharmacy Practices are all carried out under the coordination of the Dean`s Office. Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Radiopharmacy courses, which are also among the compulsory courses of our program, are provided only by a limited number of Faculties of Pharmacy in the country. Pharmacy practices are performed in a manner that includes clinical pharmacy application at community and hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical industry, research centers and laboratories and the institutions specified in the directive of apprenticeship. Our students graduate by acquiring the title of "pharmacist," and their diplomas are also approved by the Turkish Ministry of Health.The Faculty of Pharmacy is located at the Sıhhiye Campus of the Hacettepe University. Our Faculty has three lecture halls (two with a capacity of 200 students and one with a capacity of 60 students), 4 student laboratories, 14 research laboratories, one interdisciplinary research and cell culture laboratory, one conference hall with a capacity of 140 persons, one seminar hall, one library, computer facilities, one herbarium and one pharmacy museum, Our Faculty also has a Hemodialysis Solution Manufacturing Laboratory and a Drug and Poison Information Unit under its coordination.

Admission Requirements
For admission to the faculty of pharmacy, students should hold national high school degree or equivalent degree taken from foreign countries and approved by national authorities. Also, foreign candidates must acquire appropriate mark from relevant exams indicated in the legislation.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the Faculty of Pharmacy, the students are required to complete a total of 300 ECTS, to acquire at least 25% of the total credits from elective courses, to successfully complete all the courses, practices, graduation project and internships required by the program in accordance with the provisions of Hacettepe University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education-Training and Examination Regulation and to have at least 2.00 overall academic average. Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Pharmacists who graduate from Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy are entitled to open a community pharmacies, or may choose to work in any hospital pharmacies, in universities on education and research-related areas, in different departments of the drug and cosmetic industry, in drug warehouses, in centers for research and development, in public institutions and organizations such as the Turkish Medicine and Medical Device Agency, the Republic of Turkey Social Security Institution or the Turkish Institution of Public Health, in analysis laboratories, in drug and poison information centers, in cell and stem-cell therapy centers, in radiopharmacy laboratories, and also in notified bodies for medical devices, contract research organizations, drug consultancy companies and professional organizations.
Assessment and Grading
The measurement and evaluation methods applied to each course are defined in the “Course Plan” which is shown in the Information Package and prepared by the related instructor. The articles 23-28 of the Hacettepe University Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree Educational and Examination Regulation are valid for the exam and course success grades.
