About Programme

With the decision of the Council of Ministers on 30/9/2013 to close the School of Sports Sciences and Technology under the Rectorate of Hacettepe University on November 10, 2013 and to establish a Faculty of Sports Sciences under the aforementioned Rectorate, the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department and Department of the Faculty of Sports Sciences continues education as a branch.



Our program aims to train high quality physical education and sport through its undergraduate program as well as offers masters and doctorate degrees for those who would like to further their education in the field. The language of instruction is Turkish. In order to ensure the graduation requirements, it is necessary that students should take 240 ECTS credits  proposed by the department, faculty and selective courses department.

History
It was established in 1989 as the Department of Sports Sciences and Technology within the Faculty of Education (Higher Education Institution: Date of 05.09.1989, Decision No. 1989/39.1441). In 1991, the Departments of Training and Movement, Sports Education, Athlete Health, Sports Management and Organization and Psychosocial Fields in Sports were accepted by the Council of Higher Education (Higher Education Council: 28.01.1991 Date, No. 1487). In 1992, it turned into a leading college with a limited number of departments in the country (Official Gazette No. 21281: 11.07.1992). Since 2000, our students have started to graduate by getting a bachelor's degree from one of the Sports Sciences, Physical Education Teaching and Recreation programs. On 10 November 2013, the School of Sports Sciences and Technology under the Rectorate of Hacettepe University was closed and the Faculty of Sports Sciences was established under the aforementioned Rectorate, with the decision of the Council of Ministers on 30/9/2013. -continues education.

Admission Requirements
The registration, admission, exam and evaluation procedures of students are carried out in accordance with the Higher Education Law and the decisions and regulations of the Council of Higher Education issued based on this law. A two-stage exam system is applied in the transition from high school to higher education. The exams are carried out by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Detailed information about the exams can be accessed at http:www.osym.gov.tr. The first stage of the exam system is a common exam called the “Higher Education Institutions Exam” YKS. The “Higher Education Institutions Exam” is an exam that will be taken by those who successfully complete high school education and want to receive higher education. The second stage of the exam system is the “Special Talent Exam” (ÖZYES: Entrance Exams for Sports Sciences Faculties and Physical Education and Sports Schools). It has been decided that Özyes will be carried out centrally throughout Turkey in 2024 by the Presidency of the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Graduation Requirements
To complete all the courses in the program (240 ECTS) and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00 are the required rules to qualify for graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Titles and job descriptions that graduates can use:
Graduates of the Physical Education and Sports Teaching program receive the title of "Physical Education and Sports Teacher". They will be able to work in public and private schools, universities, preschool education institutions, public education centers, central and provincial organizations of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports, sports federations, sports clubs, physical fitness (fitness) centers, athlete training centers and municipalities affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. They will be able to conduct Physical Education and Sports, Physical Education and Games, Folk Dances, Sports and Physical Activities, Games and Physical Activities, Sports High Schools' Sports Field-Related Courses, Other Courses Related to Physical Education and Sports, and Health Information and Traffic Culture courses in primary and secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.

Their job descriptions are physical education, game and movement education, basic sports education, physical literacy, folk dances, dance education, and preparation, development and implementation of Physical Education and Sports programs for the disabled at all age levels, provided that they specialize.
Assessment and Grading
For every course, assessment and evaluation methods are defined in the course syllabus by the responsible academic personnel. Hacettepe University Undergraduate Academic and Examination legislation is applied regarding the examinations and assigned grade points for every course.
