About Programme
The Anthropology Undergraduate Program is a program which examines, researches and evaluates humans, societies and cultures holistically with regards to biological and cultural diversity. Within this framework, it trains anthropologists who are sensitive to humanity, society and ethical values and respectful to themselves and those around them, who are qualified in their profession, who seek to continually develop themselves, who are supportive of a scientific way of thinking, open to different thoughts and cultures, and able to think creatively and critically.

History
The Department of Anthropology offers a four year education. The language of instruction is Turkish.

Admission Requirements
Students' acceptance, registration, exam and evaluation procedures are conducted based on the Higher Education Law and the regulations and decisions put forth by The Higher Education Council based on this law.At Hacettepe University, student acceptance and registration procedures are handled by the Student Registrar Office. Related rules and regulations can be reached at http://www.oid.hacettepe.edu.tr/To enter the Anthropology Department, it is required to finish secondary education or get an equivalent education abroad and receive a sufficient score in the national student placement exam.

Graduation Requirements
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED BEFORE 2023 The undergraduate programme in Anthropology lasts 8 semesters. The programme has a total of 71 courses, 31 compulsory and 40 elective. New courses are added depending on the structure of the programme. Students must complete 114 ECTS (47.5%) of compulsory courses and 126 ECTS (52.5%) of elective courses (1 ECTS = 30 hours). At least 88 ECTS (70%) of the elective courses must be elective courses within the department. Students who complete a total of 240 ECTS from the common compulsory, compulsory and elective courses are eligible to graduate.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE 2023-2024 ACADEMIC YEAR AND BEYOND The undergraduate programme in Anthropology lasts 8 semesters. There are a total of 77 courses in the programme, 42 compulsory and 35 elective. New courses are added depending on the structure of the programme. Students must complete 165 ECTS (68.75%) of compulsory courses and 75 ECTS (31.25%) of elective courses (1 ECTS = 30 hours). At least 35 ECTS (46.7%) of the elective courses must be elective courses within the department. Students who complete a total of 240 ECTS from the common compulsory, compulsory and elective courses are eligible to graduate.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Anthropology Department can work as instructors, research assistants at universities; as anthropologists at public and private institutions and organizations, and in the relevant departments of ministries.
